Chapter 12: The Iceberg of EvolutionThe anti-Christ Korihor, who is mentioned in the Book of Mormon in Alma chapter 30, was an enemy of the church of God before the time of Christ (actually 74 B.C.). The doctrines of Korihor provide us with an excellent way to better understand the theory of evolution today!! While Korihor taught the theory of evolution in great detail, he added some things which clearly are part of the theory of evolution today, but are rarely talked about. That is what this chapter is about. Let us start with a comment by the author of the book of Alma:
The prophet Alma the Younger saw a very clear connection between the teachings of Korihor ("that when a man was dead, that was the end thereof") and the deteriorating moral behavior of Korihor's followers. Korihor taught that there was no life after death, no Judgment Day, and that there was no God. Thus his followers had no motivation to keep any commandments. Korihor's doctrines were a "blank check" to commit any sin you wanted to. That is one reason he was so popular and had many followers. Is there a similar connection today between atheism (i.e. evolution) and a deteriorating moral behavior? In fact, there is. The "blank check" of atheism is one of the major recruiting tools for the theory of evolution today!! But it is all a lie, there are no "blank checks" to commit sin. But fortunately there is forgiveness, which all humans need and can obtain. The point is that there are many religious and moral ramifications which can be directly connected to the theory of evolution (including immorality). That is another reason why the theory of evolution must be considered to be a religion. In fact, the theory of evolution can be compared to an iceberg. The visible part of the theory of evolution is the scientific debate. But the hidden parts (under the water's surface) are the religious and moral aspects of the theory of evolution. Because the theory of evolution is atheistic it is also a religion, and thus it is also a moral guideline. As a religion, the theory of evolution has the potential for a very strong affect on what moral principles, or a lack thereof, are allowed by its followers!!! In fact, because it is an atheistic theory it is totally devoid of any moral guidelines because it teaches that people do not live after death and thus there will be no Judgment after death. In other words, the Judgments of God are replaced by "survival of the fittest," which has no moral code. A very high percentage of the affects of the theory of evolution are actually below the water's surface (i.e. the section of an iceberg which is never seen). And just like the hidden part of an iceberg; these doctrines can be very, very dangerous to those who travel nearby!!
There are three distinct parts of the iceberg of the theory of evolution: Two of these three aspects of evolution, items 2 and 3, are hidden "below the water" (i.e. the invisible part of an iceberg) and thus are "out of sight" and are rarely discussed. Moral principles, as always, are a direct result of religious beliefs and the theory of evolution is a religion. If there is no God, then there are no laws regarding morality. To those who know they are teaching falsehoods, the Book of Mormon also speaks to them:
It is difficult for some students to comprehend that the theory of evolution is a religion. But they must remember that Darwin was an avowed atheist and he designed the theory of evolution precisely to attract people to atheism. So which of these things came first: atheism or the theory of evolution? The answer is irrelevant because they are one in the same. Darwin did not invent the theory of evolution, in fact his grandfather was an atheist and an evolutionist. Thus, Darwin was raised knowing both about atheism and evolution. In fact, the theory of evolution and atheism are always found together. There is really no need to try and separate the theory of evolution and atheism. If you are an atheist you will believe in the theory of evolution. On the other hand, if you are an evolutionist you either are an atheist or you think that God "helped" evolution. Thus, for "pure evolutionists" (i.e. evolutionists who are also atheists), the theory of evolution is not only a religious doctrine, but it is inescapably a moral doctrine. It must be remembered that even long before Darwin, and even to this day, people have used the theory of evolution as a recruiting tool for their religious atheism. And just like Korihor, the lure of immorality (by claiming there is no life after death) can be part of the recruiting process!! And as a religion, it has a clear set of moral guidelines, namely: "do anything you want." You cannot separate the three aspects of the theory of evolution: science, atheism and moral guidelines (i.e. there is no life after death and thus no Judgment Day and there is no such thing as "sin").
Evolution is the Exact Opposite of LDS DoctrineLet us look at LDS doctrines and evolution doctrines side-by-side. For example, let us take a list of LDS doctrines, and show evolution doctrines next to each item on the list. You will see that LDS doctrines and evolution doctrines are exactly the opposite of each other in every case. The only differences between evolution's doctrines and Korihor's doctrines are that modern science uses more advanced terminology and technology (such as using the terms: "cell," "Big Bang," and "First Living Cell"). So let us look at such a chart:
LDS Doctrine Versus Evolution Doctrine
(*) Korihor lived before the time of Christ, thus Korihor actually taught that Christ would never exist. All of the items in the right column were doctrines of Korihor in the Book of Mormon (updated to use newer terminology) and/or are religious doctrines of the theory of evolution today!!! You can clearly see that the doctrines in the left column and the doctrines in the right column are exactly the opposite of each other. Now you know why, even though the church in the Book of Mormon had many, many enemies, Korihor was the only enemy of the church who was given the title of "anti-Christ!" The word "anti" can mean enemy or opposite. In the case of Korihor it means both!! The other false prophets in the Book of Mormon mixed a belief in God with false doctrines. But Korihor did not mix truth with error, he taught pure falsehoods which were exactly the opposite of truth. Note that the theory of evolution totally denies the existence of the three most important men who exist: God (our Heavenly Father), Christ (the Savior) and the Holy Ghost. Also, the theory of evolution denies the existence of Adam (the father of the human race) and Eve (the mother of the human race). Even the father of the theory of evolution, satan (our arch-enemy) is also denied to have ever existed. The Book of Mormon was published before Darwin's Origin book and was a warning to members of the LDS church of the coming forth of the anti-Christ theory of evolution. It was not only a warning of false religious doctrines but also of false moral principles. It is critical that any student of science realize that the theory of evolution is a religion which is masquerading as a scientific doctrine!!
